Automatic Self-impressioning decoder “Turbodecoder” that can open and decode door locks for the VAG group from 1998 till 2004!

After that period the VAG group changes the lock to HU66 Gen 2/6.

Important: this tool can also be used on VAG ignition locks! Ignition locks are always HU66 Gen 1

Since this Turbodecoder has a design meant for the automotive car lock HU66 Gen 1, its structure is build accordingly. The pick consists of blade with 8 pins with a specific structure, 4 pins per side. There are three main wheels. Tension wheel, Gate Wheel and Turbo Wheel

Important – use the Tester key HU66 to find out the lock generation!

In Gen 1 locks the arrangement of the plates is one left, one right and so on.
HU66 Generation 2/6
In the 2 generation locks the wafers are two on the left, two on the right and again two one the left and two on the right. The profile of the lock remains HU66 for both generations. This is a little confusing but it’s a fact.

The HUF automotive lock manufacturer has incorporated several basic safety mechanisms that have increased the security level of the locks. First of all, there is an advanced scroll clutch, thanks to which the locks are very sensitive to any rotational stress caused by anything other than the original key. In addition, this clutch is further divided into 2 parts – front and rear.
The front does not allow the application of rotational tension through traditional unlocking pick tools.

The second part does not allow the use of selected or imitation keys as well as different power tools.

There is also a third protection system – special anti-pick false cuts of the wafers and the stationary part of the lock.

This makes the manipulation difficult and in order to unlock successfully a serious practical training is necessary. And so, we can offer you an adequate solution for opening those locks with Turbodecoder HU66 2.

We just followed the layout of the lock wafers/ discs or plates / by placing double sliding pins on a common base. Now opening, decoding and locksmith service is not a problem.
In order to understand the locks generation and their orientation please use our VAG tester key. It comes with your Turbo decoder HU66 2/6

How does it work?

Insert the tester key into the VAG lock. Look at the metal part stop point. If the key stops with the red point touching the face of the lock – you have to deal with a 1st generation lock. If it stops with the GREEN point – the lock is 2nd generation. When both dots are away from the keyway  – the tester key is inserted on the wrong side. In this case extract the tester, reverse it and insert again. Now you will find the lock generation.

On your Turbo decoder HU66 Gen 11 we have engraved one orientation point on the Gate wheel or middle wheel. You will find these signs where it is written “orientation”. Use the orientation points to orientate the tool when you insert it into the lock and ensure that its direction / left or right / matches the points of the plastic head of your tester key. This info from the tester key must be taken at the moment when your RED metal stop point touches the face of the lock.

Opening procedure

Once you have established the correct orientation of the lock, insert the tool all the way into the lock. Prior to the insertion, make sure that the turbo wheel has been turned MAX to the right and that the Gate wheel is in the MAX forward position, pushed inside!
After it is inserted pull out the Gate wheel back to the rear. You will see the “stop points”. Apply the tension to the right on the front TENSION wheel, hold the tension, and turn the back TURBO  wheel until the indicative line reaches stop point 1 engraved on the pin activator wheel. Immediately afterwards, turn the turbo wheel to the extreme right position and only then release the front wheel rotating tension.

Repeat all the same but change the tension wheel direction – use now left tension.

The good practice is to make about 20 “pumps” at stop point 1. If the lock is not opened just increase the stop sector to 2. Stay there for 20 more pumps, if it is still locked – go to the third stop point. 20 times on 3 and if there is no result make 10 – 15 stops at sector 4.
Now, if the goal is to unlock – you have done it! If you have to decode the lock please do not remove the turbo decoder! TO GET ONE CLEAR LOCK COMBINATION PLEASE DO THE FOLLOWING STEPS:
Turn the tool in any direction – no matter locking or unlocking position, keep it turned and make one final pump with the turbo wheel and line it to point to stop sector 4!
Juggle the tool while it is turned . To juggle please follow the plane of the key blade! By doing this all codes will impress the pins in a good clear code position!
Then extract the tool ! Please extract the tool correctly:
Rotate the tool into neutral lock position, turn the turbo wheel all the way to the right, push forward the Gate wheel and only then you can extract the Turbodecoder from the lock.

Reading the code

Pull back the Gatewheel, rotate the turbo wheel all to the left – line to 4th stop point and then look at the pins. Help yourself by using the code reference lines visible along the key blade! Remember – 1st line is indicator for code 2, second line gives you code 3 and 3rd one is for depth of code 4.
